What is an Apprenticeship

An apprenticeship is a supervised program for learning highly technical skills through a combination of on-the-job training and classroom education. At the Stage Technician Apprenticeship Program, our apprentices are essential to a highly skilled team.

Intermediary / Sponsor

Serves as the connector for local businesses while remaining committed to providing the apprentices with quality education, experiential learning, and skills to meet employer needs. The intermediary also takes responsibility for the administration of the program – thereby reducing the burden on employers.

On-the-Job Training

During on-the-job training, apprentices will work as a member of a skilled trades crew under the direct supervision of journey-level workers and crew chiefs. Apprentices rotate to different venues to get an overall perspective of this occupation. During on-the-job training, apprentices’ hourly pay is $18 per hour for the first year of training.

Classroom Instruction

In addition to on-the-job training, apprentices must attend a minimum of 144 hours of classroom instruction annually. Apprentices are also paid $18 per hour for their time in class and lab work.

Diversity

The Entertainment Engineer Apprenticeship Program is open to all candidates who meet our stringent qualifications. We are dedicated to increasing the number of African Americans, People of Color, and Women in the apprenticeship program while providing opportunities for all qualified applicants. We respect the diversity among us and recognize the value each of us brings to the workplace. Our apprentices reflect the diversity of the city’s population, and all are provided with the tools for success.
